A Harare woman from Dzivarasekwa suburb was allegedly robbed a total of USD900 as well as cellphones by a four man gang.
According to a report made to the police, Digital Gono was at her home with her niece and children when she heard a knock on the door. When she enquired as to the identity of the person, there was reportedly no response.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson, Luckmore Chakanza confirmed and said investigations were underway.
“The complainant was at home with her niece and her kids. They heard a knock at the door and the accused did not state their names. They asked if the complainant’s husband was around and were told he was not around.
“The accused persons forcibly opened the door, gained entry and locked themselves inside whilst holding kitchen knives and a small axe. The accused demanded cash and the complainant said she had only US$100-00. They then told her that they wanted more since she had borrowed from the club.
“They asked the complainant to accompany them to the bedroom so that they will search. Whilst searching in the bedroom complainant’s brother in law knocked and two accused persons opened for him. The accused started to demand cash from complainant’s brother in law while pointing a knife at him.
“The accused pushed the kids into the bedroom, tied the complainant and her brother in law with shoelaces both hands and legs. Complainant’s brother in law was stabbed with a knife once on the left leg and sustained a deep cut. The accused then pointed a knife to the complainant’s neck threatening to kill her.
“One of her kids screamed and took cash US$800-00 which was in the kitchen drawer and handed to the accused. The accused took away four cellphones namely Itel P36, 2 small Itel cellphones and Huawei Honor and went away, Matter was reported at ZRP Nehanda Base. Scene was attended. The victims were referred to Parirenyatwa hospital for treatment,” reads the report made to the police.
