The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warmly welcomed the recent adoption of the European Parliament’s resolution, which has a motive to peacefully end the war between Palestine and Israel.
In a statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the European Parliament to walk the talk and fulfill their generous gesture of ensuring that Palestinians are free from Israeli occupation.
The Ministry also appreciated some noble principles within the European Parliament resolution.
The statement reads, “As we move forward, the State of Palestine is deeply motivated by the report’s recommendations and appreciates the EU’s unflinching commitment to the principles of justice, peace, and human rights. We remain hopeful that these calls will not remain in the realm of rhetoric but lead to decisive actions, catalyzing a new era of peace, stability, and prosperity for Palestinians.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine greatly appreciates the resolution’s clear stance in support of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, as well as the clear stance in support of International Criminal Court’s (ICC) work, its impartiality, and neutrality. We value the call on the EU to assist the ICC and its Prosecutor in advancing the investigation and prosecution of ongoing violations. This is a significant commitment to uphold accountability and promote justice, the cornerstones of lasting peace.
“We welcome the Parliament’s call for targeted EU measures against Israeli settlements and the call on Israel, the occupying power to withdraw terrorist designations of Palestinian NGOs is also an important step towards enhancing civil society engagement and maintaining the integrity of humanitarian and human rights work.”
The general principles within the European Parliament resolution are to provide unwavering support for a negotiated two-state solution on the basis of the 1967 lines, with two sovereign, democratic states living side by side in peace and guaranteed security, with Jerusalem as the capital of both states, and in full respect of international law.
It also calls for an end to the protracted Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the occupation of Palestinian territories through the resumption of genuine peace talks between both sides on the basis of the established parameters for the two-state solution, with the support of the international community, leading to a negotiated final status agreement and mutual recognition.
Meanwhile, if the European Parliament’s resolution is absorbed within the two aggrieved nations, the ongoing conflict of land dispute will be amicably resolved.
