A 43yr old Epworth man was allegedly robbed by two unknown male assailants.
According to a report made to the police, Gilbert Muza was selling second hand shoes when two unknown male adults approached him, one of them pretended to be a buyer and enquiring on the price of his shoes.
There was another customer who bought one pair of shoes for US$12-00. He allegedly gave the complainant US$20-00. However, Muza reportedly did not have change and so he left his shoes at Legends bar as he went outside to look for change. The two accused persons allegedly followed the complainant and one of the accused grabbed him from back, pulled him down and the two are then allegeded to have jointly searched Muza’s pockets, taking away US$150-00 and an A56 Itel cellphone.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) provincial spokesperson for Harare Province, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident and said that investigations were underway.
“On 15 July 2023 at around 2000 hours, complainant was at Overspill shops where he was selling second hand shoes. Two unknown male adults approached him. One of the accused persons pretended to be a buyer and asked the price of his shoes.
“There was another customer who bought one pair of shoes which was costing US$12-00.He gave complainant US$20-00. Complainant did not have change so he left his shoes in the Legends bar as he went outside to look for change. The two accused persons followed the complainant and one of the accused grabbed him from back.
“They pulled him down and jointly searched his trousers pockets whilst lying down on the ground. They took his cash amounting to US$150-00 and A56 Itel cellphone and they disappeared into darkness. Complainant did not sustain visible injuries.
“Total value stolen is US$384-00 and nothing was recovered. Complainant reported at ZRP Epworth on 16 July 2023 at 1645 hours.” reads the report made to the police,” said Chakanza.
