Kasukwere’s Supreme Court Appeal Case Postponed

The Supreme Court has today postponed the case of Presidential hopeful Saviour Kasukuwere to next week.

The former Cabinet Minister and ZANU PF Political Commissar approached the Apex Court to appeal a High Court ruling that barred him from contesting for the Presidency at the forthcoming August 23 Harmonized election.

The appeal will now be heard on the 26th of July.

Kasukuwere, who is bidding for the Presidency in this year’s harmonized elections as an independent candidate appealed to the highest Court in the land after his candidacy was last week nullified by the High Court, on the basis that he has been out of the country for more than 18 months.

Addressing the media after the court session, Kasukuwere’s lawyer Method Ndlovu said today’s case was to determine whether the case was to be heard on an urgency basis or not.

“We have agreed that the appeal will be heard on an urgent basis that will be on the 26th of this month,” he said.

Kasukuwere who is former ZANU PF heavyweight is in a self imposed exile in South Africa.

He went to exile after the 2017 military coup which toppled former President Robert Mugabe from power.
