Three unknown men and a woman reportedly robbed a Chitungwiza man, a total of USD$7 500, clothes, laptops and cellphones, along New Chitungwiza Road.
According to a report made to the police, the complainant, Joseph Muketiwa and his two sons arrived at RG Mugabe International Airport from London on 18 July 2023.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident.
“On 18 July 2023 around 1215 hours Joseph Muketiwa arrived at RG Mugabe International Airport from London in company of his two sons Tapiwanashe and Tadiwanashe aged 13 and 8. The complainant then hired an unregistered Toyota Wish Silver in colour to Zengeza 3, Chitungwiza. In the motor vehicle was the driver only.
“Whilst along Joshua Nkomo Road the driver picked 02 unknown male adults and one unknown female adult. The complainant asked the driver why he was picking other people and he was told to keep quiet. The two unknown male adults produced knives and threatened to stab the complainant and his sons.
“The driver then drove to Chitungwiza and whilst along New Chitungwiza Road, the accused persons took complainant’s 09 traveling bags containing various clothes, 02 Acer laptops , 08 Samsung and 02 IPhones) cellphones, 03 Satchels and cash amounting to US$7500-00.
” The accused persons then dumped the complainant along new Chitungwiza road and drove away. The complainant was assisted by an unknown well wisher to contact his brother Douglas Muketiwa NR unknown who then came and took them home.
“The complainant made a report on 20 July 2023 at 1834 hours. The accused persons were not located. Total Value stolen is US$20000-00 and nothing was recovered. Investigations are underway,” reads the docket.
