Security Guards Robbed Of Guns At Gun Point

Five unknown assailants reportedly robbed four Security guards employed by Byas Security at gun point.

According to a report made to the police, the complainant, Byas security’s guards were on duty when they were robbed of two fire arms at gun point.

The assailants allegedly tied the security guards’ hands and legs with shoe laces.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident.

“On 19 July 2023 around 2000 hours, four Security guards namely David MUSOSI aged 50, Epworth, Cleopas MUSONA aged 35, Chisipite, Harare, Special NHARI aged 37 of  Hatcliffe Extension, Harare and Kelvin MASIMBARASE aged 22 all employed were on duty  at the place of occurrence.

“Three unknown male adults approached the security guards who were all at the boom gate. They were armed with unidentified pistol. The accused ordered the security guards to lie down and the guards complied.  They tied the security guards` hands and legs with shoe laces.

“The accused persons then searched the complainants and took two firearms from two of the security guards. The firearms are unnamed revolvers calibre .38,with four rounds and two rounds all valued at US$300-00.

“Givemore Kanavheti aged 37, Chisipite who is employed as a gardener came out his house and saw what was transpiring at the gate.  He immediately alerted the informant who called CID Homicide to the scene.

“The accused persons suddenly became suspicious and aborted their mission of entering the company premises. They fled the scene in an unregistered white Toyota Fortuner which had two other male accused persons. Informant made a report at ZRP Highlands on 19 July at around 2330 hours.

“Scene was attended by  Sergeant Major Mutyambizi and Sergeant Sunday from ZRP Highlands  and  Detective Constable Chihuri of CID Homicide.  No arrests or recoveries were made,” reads the docket.

Investigations into the crime are currently underway.
