A Harare woman from Budiriro suburb was allegedly robbed of her motor vehicle and property in a break in at her house.
According to a report made to the police, an unidentified man allegedly broke into Elizabeth Mandeya’s house and stole a 32 Inch Samsung Television screen which was mounted on the wall, various groceries, a suit case containing clothes as well as US$800 in cash before getting away in the compalinant’s Mazda Familia vehicle.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident.
“On the 18 July 2023 around 0610 hours, the complainant and her daughter Audrey Mandeya aged 26 left home going to work after closing all windows and locking the doors. The complainant returned from work at around 1750 hours and discovered that an unknown accused person had used an unknown object to open the main gate.
“The unknown accused person proceeded to the complainant’s main bedroom, cut the screen door padlock, forced open the door and gained entry into the house. Whilst inside the house the unknown accused person stole a 32 Inch Samsung Television which was mounted on the wall, various groceries, a suit case containing Cash US$800 and Mazda Familia registration number AEB 9053 car keys which were on the shoe rack.
“The accused person used the complainant’s Mazda Familia motor vehicle which was parked in the yard as a getaway car. Total value stolen is US$3540-00. The complainant made a report at ZRP Budiriro on the 18th day of July 2023 at around 2000 hours. ZRP Budiriro attended the scene and no arrests or recoveries were made. CID VTS was advised,” reads the docket.
