Two unknown men allegedly kidnapped and raped a 25 year old Tynwald maid for two consecutive days before they eventually dumped her in Epworth.
According to a report made to the police, the complainant Alice Isa boarded a commuter omnibus on July 16, this month on her way to Tynwald North, where she is employed as a house maid.
On the way the commuter omnibus reportedly had a breakdown and Alice is said to have then dropped off together with an unidentified woman who was also a passenger in the vehicle. They then reportedly both boarded a Hybrid Honda fit which had two men and a woman. The unnamed woman later reportedly disembarked at Maranatha High School in Westlea.
Its alleged that the driver of the Honda Fit then diverted the route and stopped the car at an unknown house where he and his accomplice allegedly raped Alice countless times for two days, after which they then drove out and dumped her in Epworth.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) provincial spokesperson for Harare province confirmed the incident.
“On 16 July 2023 around 2200 hours, complainant boarded a commuter omnibus with registration number unknown intending to visit her place of employment in Tynwald North where she is employed as a maid. Along the way, the commuter omnibus had a breakdown near Prince Edward School Harare. She dropped off and boarded a white Hybrid Honda fit together with a woman who was also in the kombi.
“There were three (3) occupants in the vehicle including the driver, two males and one female. The woman she boarded the lift with, later disembarked at Maranatha high School Westlea. They drove along Kirkman road and were suppose to drop off the complainant at Melbourne school, but instead the driver proceeded straight along Kirkman road diverting the complainant’s route.
“She questioned the driver but the female accused stopped her. As the complainant continued protesting, the female accused grabbed her by the neck. One of the accused who was seating on the passenger’s seat pointed a knife at her, threatening to kill her. The female accused then forcibly blindfolded the complainant with a cloth. They searched the complainant and took cash amounting to US$5-00 and Huawei Y 5 Cell phone in her possession. The car halted at an unknown address and they escorted her to a room.
“They gave her food to eat and she accepted. After 30 minutes, one of the male accused persons went to the complainant and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her several times. Few hours later the other male accused person came and had unprotected sexual intercourse with her without her consent till the following day. On 17 July 2023, the two accused persons had countless sexual intercourse with the complainant.
“The two male accused later left the complainant in the guard of the female accused person and came during the night where they continued having unprotected sexual intercourse with her until dawn. On 18 July 2023, they also had sexual intercourse and later put complainant in their car blindfolded and dumped her in an area in Epworth. Before they drop her off they gave her cellphone back and drove off. Complainant was assisted by a passer-by who directed her to ZRP Epworth and filed a report on 19 July 2023 at 0014 hours. Scene was not attended because the matter occurred out of jurisdictional area. No arrests were made,” said Chakanza.
