The MDC president, Douglas Mwonzora, has said Zanu PF will never succeed in its political machinations to totally decimate his party ahead of the August 23 general elections this year.
Mwonzora said this yesterday in Harare at the party headquarters when he launched the MDC 2023 manifesto, dubbed “a working economy for the people”.
Speaking at the launch, attended by nearly 500 MDC supporters, Mwonzora said he is not the first man to be betrayed on earth. He confidentially added that his party has information on how Zanu PF is luring MDC members to join the ruling party.
“As MDC, we know that Zanu Pf has created a desk at its headquarters led by Blessing Chebundo in the 4TH floor to lure our MDC members. They want to destroy our party, but we have sad news for Zanu Pf, you will never destroy the MDC. We have bad news for Mnangagwa, you will never decimate us. You tried under Mugabe and you’re trying now, but that is a very poor try because the integrity of the MDC remains.
“The second thing is that the MDC is not the first to be betrayed. If you look biblically, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, what more a human being like Douglas Mwonzora.
“Tsvangirai was also betrayed twice by his loyal, secretary general so if Tsvangirai was betrayed what more me,” said Mwonzora.
MDC’s response comes after its former National Secretary for Information and Publicity, Witness Dube, defected to Zanu PF last month to join stalwart Blessing Chebundo, who also joined the ruling party in 2022.
