Mt Hapden Man Nabbed For Murder

Zimbabwean News You Can Trust

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested a 27 year old man from Mt Hapden after the man reportedly killed his workmate in broad daylight.

According to a report made to the police, the accused Martin Magumanya allegedly passed through the deceased’s home of residence whilst drunk on August 1.

It is alleged Magumanya kicked the dog of the deceased, and an altercation arose between the two. This prompted the security guards and other workers to take Magumanya to a room under construction as they tried to stop the misunderstanding.

Upon arriving in the room, the accused continued to be violent and reportedly kicked the now deceased, Elias Chiparaushe, on the groin, and Chiparaushe’s head hit against the wall as he fell down unconsciously. Chiparaushe was rushed to the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, but unfortunately he died upon admission.

ZRP provincial spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed about the tragic incident.

“On 1 August 2023 at around 1500 hours, the accused person who appeared drunk, passed through the now deceased’s house and he saw a dog lying on the deceased’s door mate. The accused person kicked the dog and a misunderstanding arose between the two, with the now deceased questioning the action of the accused.

“The accused person turned violent towards the now deceased and shouted at him. The now deceased walked away and left the accused person behind and proceeded to the company gate which is about 50 meters away from his house. The accused person followed the now deceased and continued shouting at the now deceased. The accused person was taken to a room under construction by security guards with the assistance of other workers in order to restrain him from causing further commotion.

“While in the room, the accused person, who was still violent and disorderly, kicked the now deceased once on the groin. As a result of the impact, the now deceased hit against the wall with his head, fell down and became unconscious. The now deceased was rushed to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals by his workmate Craig Chiyambiwa using a company motor vehicle, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival,” said Chakanza.
