The Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) has lamented alleged victimization of its members by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
This comes after forty of CCC members were yesterday arrested for holding an allegedly unsanctioned rally in Glenview.
Addressing a press Conference in Harare today, CCC spokesperson Fadzai Mahere said “the Police are acting in a discriminatory manner by arresting opposition members who were cleared to have a political gathering.”
“Yesterday we were set to have a rally at Churu and in the process 40 of our members including our aspiring candidate Mr Hakata were arrested,” she said. “ZANU does not follow MOPA law but they are not arrested but to us its a different story.”
She blasted the ruling ZANU PF party for what she said were cowardly acts of directing the security forces to disturb CCC gatherings.
“We have the majority and ZANU PF is in fear that many support our party,” she added.
The ZRP is on record banning CCC rallies until a Government directive to the police to permit them.
