Waterfalls Woman Robbed Of Car And Cash At Gun Point

A Harare woman from Waterfalls suburb was allegedly robbed of R10 000, US$460-00 and a Honda Fit vehicle by three unknown assailants.

According to a report made to the police, Getrude Chidembo returned home from Highfield, where she runs a grocery store. Three unknown male adults wearing masks and gloves entered her home through an unlocked dining room door, armed with a pistol and iron bars.

Upon entry the alleged robbers then order people in the house to lie down, before getting into Chidembo’s bedroom and taking R10 000 cash, US$460 and driving away in her US$6000 Honda Fit vehicle.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) provincial spokesperson for Harare Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incidenta and said investigations were are in progress.

“On 09 August 2023 around 2230 hours, the complainant arrived home from Highfield where she operates a grocery shop. She parked her Silver Honda Fit registration number AFN 6242 Chassis number GE61427166 and Engine number L13A4537564.

“At around 2300 hours, three [3] unknown male adults wearing masks and gloves entered her house through an unlocked dining room door armed with an unidentified pistol and iron bars.

“The accused persons ordered the complainant’s relatives, Bezel MAGWIZI, Cathrine CHIDEMBO, and Felix MUGUTI to lie down before they tied their hands with some cords.

“The accused persons proceeded to the complainant’s bedroom where they stole cash amounting to  R10 000, US$460-00. They also took complainant’s car keys and drove away the car valued at US$6 000. Complainant made a report at ZRP Waterfalls. Scene was attended by ZRP Waterfalls together with CID Homicide.

“CID VTS was advised. The total value of the stolen property is USD$6 460 and R10 000. The motor vehicle valued at US$6000 was recovered by CID Homicide dumped near Irvine’s along Huxton Drive.

“The motor vehicle is held at ZRP Waterfalls awaiting experts to uplift fingerprints. No one was injured. Investigations are still in progress,” said Chakanza.
