Mbare Woman Raped And Robbed At Cemetery

A woman employed at Verun Beverages was allegedly robbed and raped by two unknown men at a cemetery in Mabre recently.

The victim was on her way home when the suspects approached her at an open space as she walked from her workplace.

The suspects allegedly saw Mary Crispen at an open space near Strucken cemetery as she walked alone and approached her. The two suspects then allegedly produced knives and demanded money from her before force marching her to the near cemetery where one of the suspects allegedly forced her to the ground and forcibly had unprotected sexual intercourse with her.

After the act the suspects are alleged to have robbed the victim of her Itel cellphone before fleeing from the scene.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said investigations are in progress.

“On 25th August 2023 at around 1900 hours, the complainant was walking from her workplace at Verun Beverages, Harare proceeding home. When she reached an open space near Strucken Cemetery, she was approached by two unknown male adults who were wearing wool hats. One of the accused persons produced a knife whilst the other accused person blindfolded the complainant using a cloth. They both dragged the complainant to the nearby ground. One of the accused persons pushed the complainant onto the ground and instructed her to remain silent whilst pointing a knife at her.

“The accused persons undressed the complainant and took her Itel S17 cell phone and started demanding money from the complainant. The complainant told the accused persons that she had no money in possession. One of the accused persons forcibly had unprotected sexual intercourse once with the complainant without her consent. After the act, the accused person used the complaint’s socks to wipe the complainant’s vagina. The accused persons ordered the complainant to dress up and she complied. The accused persons fled from the scene after the act.

“The complainant went back to her workplace at Verun Beverages and advised her supervisor of what had happened. She then proceeded to ZRP Stodart and made a report at 2130 hours,” reads the docket.
