Hopley Man Rapes Sister’s Friend

A  Hopley man has been arrested on allegations of raping a juvenile.

The supsect allegedly raped the juvenile without protection and then ordered her to leave his room after a while.

According to a police report obtained by this publication, the juvenile was on her way home from Waterfalls when she passed by the suspect’s home, where her friend resides.

The victim’s friend is her schoolmate as well as being sister to the suspect.

“On the 27th day of August 2023 at around 1600 hours, the complainant was on her way home from Masteps intersection Waterfalls. As she passed by the accused person’s place of residence, she was called by the accused person’s sister known (name withheld) who is her friend and school mate.

“She complied and went to the accused person’s place of residence. The accused person came out from one of the rooms when the complainant reached the yard.

“He approached the complainant and pulled her by the hand into his room before he closed the door. He pushed the complainant onto the bed. The complainant tried to fight back but the accused person overpowered her and forcibly removed her skirt and pants.

“He raped her once without protection and after a while, he ordered the complainant to move out of his room. The complainant wore her clothes and left the room. On the 28th of August 2023 at around 1200 hours the complainant informed her friends (names withheld) about what had happened.

“Her friends told the informant who went on to tell the complainant’s father who is self employed residing at Hopley Zone 6 Harare. The Informant accompanied the complainant and his father to ZRP Southlea Park to file a report on 28 August at around 2200hrs.

“Scene was attended by ZRP Southlea park leading to the arrest of the accused person. The complainant was escorted to family support clinic at Harare hospital for medical examination. The accused was detained on Southlea Park DB1529/23.  Southlea Park OB Ref 6540/23 refers,” reads the docket.
