In a heartbreaking incident that has left residents in Msasa Park suburb in shocks, an unknown assailant allegedly murdered a 23 year old resident of the suburb and dumped his body along a dust road in an industrial area.
The deceased, Tinei Muvengi, was reportedly last seen at Landmax Bar at Chiremba Shopping Centre by his uncle on Sunday afternoon.
His dead body was found with deep cuts on Monday morning.
He was found dead, bleeding excessively, and his shoes and cap were a few meters away from the tragic scene.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and assured the bereaved family that investigations are underway.
“Informant is the elder brother to the now deceased. On 3 September around 1800 hours, the deceased was seen at Landmax Bar at Chiremba Shopping Centre by his uncle Emmanuel CHIKAVA, NR 32-189041-M66, a male adult aged 32 years of house number 262 Muguta Epworth, Harare.
“They talked for a short period and then separated after the deceased indicated that he was going back to Msasa Park. On 4 September 2023 around 0700 hours, Tinei MUVENGI was seen lying dead along the dusty road side in ZIMPHOS area near Msasa Park, Harare, by Danmore MACHOKOVHINGO, NR 22-305420-W-22, a male adult aged 25, residing in Muguta Epworth, Harare who was on his way to work. The informant was advised by members of the public that and positively identified the body of the deceased as that of his young brother. Informant made a report at ZRP Rhodesville.
“Scene was attended by ZRP Rhodesville, CID Homicide, CID Studios and CID Forensic and made the following observations; deceased’s body was lying facing upwards with multiple stabbed deep cut wounds, two cuts on the left side of chest (heart position), one on the stomach, one on the neck and three on his back.
“The now deceased was bleeding profusely on the stabbed heart position of the chest. He was barefooted, his pair of sandals and a cap was about five metres away from him. There were no signs of struggle at the place. Deceased’s blue mountain bicycle was not seen at the scene. No arrest was made,” reads the docket.
