Four Armed Robbers Break Into Ruwa House, Torture Occupant Before Stealing Goods Worth US$1 800

Another case of armed robbery reported in Ruwa as four assailants allegedly broke into a house in area Ruwa and tied up the occupants before getting away with 3 Laptops, Clothes, Bed sheets, Jewellery, Body lotions, spanners, Black and blueMi9T cellphones and US$500 in cash.

The suspects allegedly got away with goods and cash worth US$1800.

According to a report made to the police, James Muwanduna arrived from work and upon entering the yard, saw one of the suspects running from the sitting room, jumping the durawall and disappearing into the night.

When he got inside the house, Muwanduna found Miss Nyengedzai Mupfumi, his house help, tied in the main bedroom and freed her.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident.

“On 4 September 2023 around 0008 hours, complainant 1 was asleep in her spare bedroom when the window of her room was smashed. She woke up, rushed to the dining room and she met accused persons in the dining room.

“Two of the accused persons were armed with iron bars. Accused persons held her by the arms and demanded cash from her. They asked her where her employer (complainant 2) kept his cash.

“Accused persons took complainant 1 to the main bedroom tied her arms and legs with cello tape. One of the accused persons lights a piece of plastic and burnt complainant 1 on her buttocks and legs were she sustained blisters.

“Accused persons ransacked the rooms and stole 3 Laptops (Dell, HP, Lenovo), JB Speaker, Toolbox, HP satchel, Various ladies and men’s clothes, Bed sheets, Jewellery, Body lotions, spanners, Black and blueMi9T cellphone and cash US$500-00.

“Complainant 2 arrived from work, as he entered the yard, he saw accused person running from the sitting room, jumped the durawall and went away. Complainant 2 went inside and he found complainant 1 tied in the main bedroom and freed her.

“Complainant 2 was informed accused persons took the car keys of a Nissan Tilda, he went to check outside and found the keys on the ignition of and the engine was running. Complainant made a report at ZRP Ruwa. Scene was attended by ZRP Ruwa and no arrests or recoveries were made.

“Complainant 1 was referred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for treatment. Total value stolen is US$1 800-00. Investigations are in progress. ZRP Ruwa IR 607/23 refers,” reads the docket.
