In a shocking incident that has left the Epworth community in grief, a local woman was allegedly killed in cold blood, shortly after a fight with her husband’s ex wife.
According to a report made to the police, Naison Vundla was attending an all night prayer with his now deceased wife Carren at a local church when his ex wife Susan Mutekede joined the service and later had an altercation with the now deceased after accusing her of wearing her jacket.
Its alleged that Susan furiously confronted Carren, blaming her for causing the collapse of her marriage to Vundla. However, the church leader, one prophet Tawanda Kajeta reportedly intervened and resolved the misunderstanding between the feuding parties.
Moments later, the late Carren is alleged to have left the church and ran into darkness.
Vundla and his ex-wife continued to attend the church service until word reached them that a dead body of a female adult was lying along Overspill Road.
Vundla then left church to go and look for his wife, but he found no luck.
He got the shock of his life when he got to the scene of the dead body that was reported, only to discover that it was his wife who was lying in a pool of blood.
A report was made at Epworth Police Station.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident.
“On 16 September 2023 and at around 2100 hours, the informant and the now deceased were attending an all night prayer at Flame of Fire International Ministry at Munyuki shopping centre. Susan Mutekede, NR unknown, aged 30 years, (address yet to be established) who is the ex-wife to informant joined the church service. She realised the presence of the now deceased was wearing a jacket similar which belongs to the informant. She confronted the now deceased blaming her for causing the breakup of her marriage.
“The now deceased left the church running into darkness and Naison Vundla refrained Susan Mutekede from attacking the now deceased who had ran away. A misunderstanding arose between Naison Vundla and his ex-wife Susan Mutekede and the matter was resolved by Tawanda Kajeta (NFPK) who is the church prophet.
“Susan Mutekede went back into the church and started to follow the church proceedings together with other church members whilst Naison Vundla was trying to locate the now deceased. The informant went home but failed to locate the now deceased and he returned to church after about an hour and he attended the church together with others.
“At around 0600 hours on the 16th of September 2023 whilst the informant and his ex-wife were still at church they heard that there was a dead body of a female adult along Overspill road near Jacha turnoff. The informant and Tawanda Kajeta went to check and the informant positively identified the body of the now deceased as that of Carren (NFPK). A report was made at ZRP Epworth and scene was attended. No arrest was made.
“Observed at the scene was a spoor which is about 30 meters from where the body was found lying which is a clear indication that the now deceased was dragged to the other side of the tarred road and was left dead on a small dust road just about 14 meters from the tarred road. Assistant Inspector Vengai inspected the body and discovered that there was a wound and some blood stains which suggest that she was assaulted by a blunt object on top of the right eye.
“Further inspection revealed that the now deceased who was lying with her stomach down had her black jean and a pink pant dropped to knee level which leaves suspicion that she might also have been raped during the process. The body of the deceased was not removed at the scene waiting for the scene to be attended by CID Scenes,” reads the docket.
