Mabvuku Man Robbed Whilst Standing In A Passport Queue At Makombe

Two unknown assailants allegedly robbed a 41 year old man from Mabvuku suburb a total of USD120 in Harare Central Business District {CBD} recently.

According to a police report, Forward Kufakunesu was standing in a queue at Corner Leopold Takawira and Herbert Chitepo Passport Office in Harare, CBD, last week on Saturday, intending to reapply for a passport.

Moments later, two unknown men driving a pink Honda fit immediately stopped where he was and demanded cash from him whilst placing knives on his ribs.

Kufakunesu reportedly succumbed to fear and allegedly gave the “culprits” USD120 before they vanished, leaving him reeling in shock.

Zimbabwe Republic Police {ZRP} Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway.

“On 16 September 2023 at around 0500 hours, at the place of occurrence, the complainant was standing alone for a queue which led to the passport office as he intended to reapply for a passport. A pink Honda Fit, Reg not supplied with two occupants pulled over in front of the complainant.

“The accused persons came out of the Honda Fit and produced knives, pointed them at the complainant and demanded cash. The complainant handed them a sum of USD$120-00. The accused persons got into their motor vehicle and drove away. Total value stolen is USD$120  and nothing was recovered,” said Chakanza.
