A 36yr old woman from Kuwadzana suburb is in distress after losing US$6000 to a bogus agent in a botched residential stand sale deal.
According to a report made to the police, Codolia Songera (36) of Kuwadzana suburb went to Solomio suburb in Ruwa with the intention of purchasing residential stand on March 7 this year.
Upon arrival, Songore met one Plaxedes Kasambwa, who claimed to have been selling a residential stand in the area.
Songore is then reported to have handed over a total of US$6000 for the purchase of the stand from Kasambwa. Its alleged that the two agreed to view the stand the following day.
However, the following day Songore failed to locate Kasambwa, despite countless attempts to call her. Her phone allegedly went unanswered and remains unavailable to date.
After failing to lacate Kasamwa, the 36 year old Songera, suspecting foul play, went to Ruwa Police Station to file a report.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said investigations are in progress.
“On 7 March 2023 at around 1300hours, the complainant went to Solomio Residential Stands, Ruwa to buy a stand when she met with the accused person. The accused person approached her and told her that she had a stand for sale worth USD6000. The complainant then agreed and paid the money to the accused person. After payment, the complainant was promised to see the stand on the following day.
“On 8 March 2023 during the morning, the complainant tried to call the accused person’s cell phone and it was not reachable. From that day the complainant tried to find the accused person’s whereabouts but proved fruitless. The complainant reported the mater at ZRP Ruwa on 28 September 2023 at 1225hours. Scene was attended and no arrest or recoveries was made. The total value of cash defrauded is USD6000 Investigations are in progress,” said Chakanza.
