Chelsea Injuries Will Not Deter Success Says Pochettino

Zimbabwean News You Can Trust

Chelsea head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, has said the current injuries hounding the blues will not deter them from winning their remaining fixtures.

Addressing a press conference after a thunderbolt victory against Fulham on Monday, Pochettino hailed his side for a brilliant display in their last two matches, insisting that the team will continue to work hard.

“It was important for us to build our confidence and trust in ourselves. The performance was very good. Today, the performance was fantastic. I am so happy. We got what we deserved. Look, in any team, if you have the injuries that we have, it will affect the team. But we don’t want to use that as an excuse.

“We are talking and we are working. That is the credit of all the coaching staff. Jesus, the people we find here, all of the staff, we have a very good relationship and we decide for every player the possibility to improve,” he said.

Commenting on Mykhailo Mudryk’s first sensational goal since the start of the season, Pochettino said, “He played because he deserved it, and he has shown in the training sessions that he deserved it. Normally, the player needs to show us.”

The 51 year old also commented on Chelsea players like Mykhailo Mudryk, Moises Caicedo and Armando Broja, who picked injuries during the Fulham game.

“Hope it was not a big issue and will be ready for Saturday. I am so happy for both Armando Broja. Hopefully we can recover for the weekend. On Moises Caicedo my hope is that nothing wrong happened but it was a contusion,” said the former PSG manager.

Mykhailo Mudryk’s first goal for Chelsea helped Mauricio Pochettino’s side claim their first Premier League win since August, as they beat West London rivals Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage.

Mudryk took his goal brilliantly in the 18th minute, controlling Levi Colwill’s cross on his chest and finding the back of the net for the first time since his £88.5m arrival from Shakhtar Donetsk in January.

The blues impressive win comes after it had not scored in the Premier League since beating Luton on August 25.
