A Stoneridge man has been arrested on allegations of raping a juvenile.
According to a report made to the police, the suspect, who is a builder by profession and who was working at the juvenile’s residence when the incident occurred.
Its alleged that on the day in question, the suspect went into the minor’s room to collect building material. It was at that moment that he allegedly climbed onto the juvenile’s bed and raped her once without her consent. He allegedly raped her without protection.
The matter came to light on 01 October 2023 after the suspect’s assistant builder (name withheld), who saw the act revealed it to the minor’s guardian.
The guardian reportedly then questioned the minor on the incident, to which she conformed it. He then accompanied the juvenile to ZRP Southlea Park Police Station to make a report, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway.
“The accused person is a builder who was working at the complainant’s residence. On 29 September 2023 around 1000 hours accused person and his two assistants arrived at the complainant’s home for work. The accused person then went into the complainant’s room looking for his building materials.
“The accused person got on the bed where complainant was asleep and raped her once without protection. The matter came to light on 01 October 2023 after one of the accused’s assistant builder [name withheld] who saw the act revealed it to another man (name withheld), who is a guardian to the minor.
“The minor’s guardian then questioned the minor and she then disclosed the case. He then accompanied the minor to ZRP Southlea Park Police Station and a report was made. ZRP Southlea Park attended the scene and the accused person was arrested. Accused person is detained. Complainant was escorted to Edith MSF Clinic for medical examination. Investigations are in progress under ZRP Southlea Park,” reads the report.
