As more and more cases of robberies and break ins continue in the country, a family in Western Triangle, Highfield was left counting its loses after it allegedly lost money and goods to a house break in.
The total amount of goods and cash lost to the alleged break in is US$1810.
According to a report made to the police, Patrick Muhwezva and his wife left home for an appointment at the doctor’s. They had left their house doors locked and windows closed.
Upon the wife’s return, she found out that there had been a break in. She noticed that an HP laptop, some groceries and US$650 in cash was missing from the house. She also found out that the alleged thief had used a duplicate key to gain access into the house since the door locks where not broken.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident and said investigations are in progress.
“On 28 September 2023 at around 1230 hours, complainant and his wife left his house to consult a doctor leaving doors locked and windows closed. On the same date at around 1300 hours, the complainant’s wife came back and discovered that an unknown accused person used duplicate keys to open the door to gain entry into the house and stole Laptop HP, cash US$650-00 and groceries and went away unnoticed.
“A report was made at ZRP Machipisa and scene was attended, no arrest or recoveries were made. Total value stolen is US$1810-00. Investigations are in progress under ZRP Machipisa,” said Chakanza.
