The Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services Dr Tatenda Mavetera has implored stakeholders to collaborate in fighting cyber crimes.
Speaking at the Cyber Security Conference in Harare today, Minister Mavetera said cyber crimes are on the rise and there is a need for collaboration in fighting them.
“I call upon the respective stakeholders such as POTRAZ, the Central Bank and service providers and law enforcement agencies to collaborate in combating this scourge to protect our citizens,” she said.
She also said cyber attacks reduce trust and confidence in the ICT systems of Zimbabwe.
Dr Mavetera added that government has put in place regulatory measures such as the enactment of the Cyber Crimes and Data Protection Act as well as other related initiatives in fighting and combating cyber crimes.
The Chikomba West Legislature also said education is a paramount in enhancing cyber security.
“We need to invest in cyber security education and training programs at all levels. By equipping individuals with necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the digital landscape safely, we empower them to make informed decisions and contribute to a more secure cyberspace,” she said.
