Hatcliffe Man Attacks & Rapes 79 Year Old Woman

In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves around Hatcliffe suburb, an unidentified man allegedly violently attacked a 79year old woman before raping her once, at Arda Nijo farm.

According to a report made to the police, the victim, Jesca Nyemba, was reportedly preparing her land for farming when an as yet to be identified man allegedly approached her, seeking employment to till the land.

Nyemba allegedly told the stranger that she didn’t have any money to pay him. The suspect reportedly then turned violent, stabbing the elderly woman several times in the face and head before having unprotected sexual intercourse with her without her consent.

Nyemba is reported to have tried in vain to scream so as to attract the attention of other people, however it was to no avail as noone heard nor responded to her distress calls.

After the assault, Nyemba went to Hatcliffe Police Station where she made a report.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway to bring the culprit to book.

“On 30 October 2023 around 1000 hours, the complainant was at Arda Nijo Farm Estate preparing her land for farming. Whilst in the fields, she was approached by the unknown accused person requesting for a piece of job to till the land and the complainant told him that she did not have any money. The accused person then produced a metal object from his trousers and stabbed the complainant twice on the head.

“The complainant fell down and the accused person started demanding sex from the complainant. The complainant refused and the accused person stabbed the complainant again on the face. The complainant screamed for help but no one came to her aid since she was alone in the fields. The accused person then pulled up complainant’s skirt and also unzipped his trousers and had unprotected sex once with the complainant without her consent. After the act, the accused person ran away,” the docket reads.
