Self-imposed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Secretary General Sengeso Tshabangu says outspoken party deputy spokesperson Gift “Ostallos” Siziba, who is seeking re-election as the Member of Parliament for Pelendaba-Tshabalala Constituency is “wasting time and resources campaigning.”
Siziba, who was recalled by Tshabangu after last year’s disputed general elections, filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate for the by-elections slated for February 3 this year.
According to Tshabangu, he never appended his signature on Siziba’s papers and thus isn’t eligible to stand on the CCC ticket.
“If Ostallos was signed by me he can go there and campaign and he is going to win but he knows the signature was not from the Secretary General,” said Tshabangu.
Tshabangu, who is labeled by the Chamisa faction of the CCC as a ZANU PF project, castigated election governing mother body ZEC for accepting Siziba’s paper’s.
“They have administrative authority, that is the ineptitude of ZEC, that is the inefficiency of ZEC. They can disqualify candidates. It is within their mandate because they know who is the authority and they should not pretend as if they do not know,” he said.
Following the recalls of dozens of CCC legislators, Councillors and Senators by Tshabangu, the main opposition has been rocked by internal fights which have exposed the broken relationship between the party President Nelson Chamisa and senior leaders such as his deputies Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube.
Biti and Ncube has suffered relentless social media attacks by Chamisa’s supporters especially on X.
The acrimony between Chamisa and his erstwhile colleagues has led so senior party members such as Kuwadzana East MP, Charlton Hwende’s calling for dialogue within the main opposition.
