Dzivarasekwa Man Nabbed For Kidnapping A 5 Year Old Girl

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested a Dzivarasekwa man for allegedly kidnapping a five year old girl on January 20.

It is alleged that the man kidnapped the minor when she was outside her family house, playing with her friend at around half past five in the evening, and took her to Kuwadzana 3 paddocks.

Its alleged that his intention was to be intimate with the minor.

After some minutes, the mother of the victim reportedly noticed the mysterious disappearance of her child, and alerted her neighbours through the community’s Whatsapp group.

A while latter she received a phone call that her daughter was found with a stranger in the Kuwadzana paddocks.

A report was made at Kuwadzana Police Station leading to the suspect’s arrest.

ZRP Harare Provincial Spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the arrest and said investigations are in progress.

“Complainant and accused person are strangers. On 20 January 2024 around 1730 hours, the informant was at home whilst the complainant was playing outside with her friend Tamari.  When the informant went outside, she discovered that Tamari was playing alone and the complainant was missing. Informant was told by Tamari that the complainant had been taken by an unknown male adult.

“The informant sent a WhatsApp message in the community WhatsApp group that she was looking for the complainant. On the same day around 1745 hours, the informant received a phone call from Edith informing her that the complainant was found with the accused person in Kuwadzana 4 Paddocks. A report was made at ZRP Kuwadzana. Scene was attended and the accused person was arrested,” said Chakanza.
