Police are on the hunt for a Zvimba man who allegedly raped a 17yr old minor with the assistance of this friend.
The minor was on her way to the bus stop, intending to catch a bus to Harare when she met the two man on the road. She is alleged to have tripped and fell and whilst she was still down, the two suspects allegedly rushed to pick her up.
They then allegedly dragged her into a nearby maize field where one of the man pinned her down and his friend pulled up and skirt and raped her once without protection. After the act the men reportedly fled the scene.
The victim proceeded with her journey and went on to attend school before eventually revealing her ordeal to a neighbor who then went on to informed the minor’s sister.
The victim’s sister took her to Marimba Police Station where she made a report.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway.
“On 18 January 2024 around 0630 hours, the complainant was on her way to school intending to catch a bus at Pamuti Wakatemwa bus stop. She used a footpath which passes through a certain maize field, and when she had reached the maize field, the complainant met two accused persons who were going in the opposite direction.
“When the accused just passed the complainant, the complainant slipped and fell down. Whilst complainant was still laying on the ground the accused persons rushed back where complainant was lying and got hold of her hand and dragged her into the nearby maize field. One of the accused persons kept holding her tightly whilst the other removed her skirt, skin tight and pant and had unprotected s3xual intercourse once with her without consent. The accused dressed up and ran away leaving the complainant lying on the muddy ground. Complainant later managed to get up, dressed herself and proceeded to school.
“She did not tell anyone about the case. Complainant later revealed the matter to her neighbor Mrs. Gotora about the abuse on 20 January 2024 around 1030 hours. The complainant’s neighbor then told the complainant’s sister Tinotenda Chimutsa about the matter and the complainant’s sister took the complainant to ZRP Marimba to make a report,”- reads the docket.
