The Republic Zimbabwe Police(ZRP) has arrested three men for allegedly stealing a Nissan Atlas Truck on January 22 in Kuwadzana.
Its alleged that on January 22 at around 2020 hours, the owner of the vehicle in question parked it at Kuwadzana 3 car park and locked all doors, closed all windows and went to his place of residence leaving the motor vehicle under the custody of Tatenda who is a security guard at the car park.
According to a report made to the police, Lawrence Munetsi went to the parking lot early the next morning at around 7:30 a.m. and was shocked to find vehicle missing.
Munetsi then asked the security guard as to the whereabouts of his vehicle and the guard professed ignorance. A petrified Munetsi then tracked for it via an installed vehicle tracker which located it in neigbouring Mufakose.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said the suspects have since been arrested.
“On 22 January 2024 around 2020 hours, the complainant parked his motor vehicle at Kuwadzana 3 car park. He locked all doors, closed. On 22 January 2024 around 2020 hours, the complainant parked his motor vehicle at Kuwadzana 3 car park.
“He locked all doors, closed all windows and went to his place of residence leaving the motor vehicle under the custody of Tatenda [NFPK] who is a security guard at the car park. The following morning at around 0730hours, he proceeded to the car park to collect his motor vehicle but could not find it.
“He enquired from the security guard who stated that he had no clue as to who took it. The complainant checked with his vehicle tracker and discovered that the vehicle was in Mufakose. A report was made at ZRP Marimba. Scene was attended, leading to the recovery of the motor vehicle at corner Mutsvanzva and Mugaragunguwo in Mufakose.
“The accused persons were arrested and detained at ZRP Marimba under DB 181/24 and 172/24. The docket and the accused persons were referred to VTS for further management. all windows and went to his place of residence leaving the motor vehicle under the custody of Tatenda [NFPK] who is a security guard at the car park.
“The following morning at around 0730hours, he proceeded to the car park to collect his motor vehicle but could not find it. He enquired from the security guard who stated that he had no clue as to who took it. The complainant checked with his vehicle tracker and discovered that the vehicle was in Mufakose.
” A report was made at ZRP Marimba. Scene was attended, leading to the recovery of the motor vehicle at corner Mutsvanzva and Mugaragunguwo in Mufakose. The accused persons were arrested and detained at ZRP Marimba under DB 181/24 and 172/24. The docket and the accused persons were referred to VTS for further management,” said Chakanza.
