
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested two men for alleged carjacking.
The suspects allegedly allegedly approached Johannes Mashiri at Chikwanha shopping centre near Chitungwiza and hired him to ferry them to Koala Park, located on Seke Rd.
Mashiri, who was driving a Toyota Sienta, and using it as a taxi cab agreed to ferry the suspects and charged them a USD$10 fare for the trip.
As they approached Chinhamo area, just after the airport, one of the suspects allegedly requested for a recess and Mashiri obliged.
After stopping the car its alleged that two of the suspects who were seated in the back seat grabbed Mashiri from behind and dragged him to the back of the car whilst the 3rd suspect who was seated on the front passenger seat took over the vehicle and drove at high speed towards Epworth.
The two suspects who had grabbed Mashiri allegedly tied his hands and feet with car seat belts that they had cut off. They also allegedly searched him and too his Huaweii Phone and the US$10 they had given him.
Upon reaching Epworth the suspects allegedly bundled Mashiri out of the vehicle and dragged him into a nearby bush where they dumped him before driving off.
Mashiri was assisted by wellwishers who took him to Epworth Police Station where he made a report. He also informed the authorities that the vehicle had a tracking system installed, which they used to track it to the Harare CBD, where the suspects were caught whilst in thr process if attempting to rob a passenger that they had ferried.
Two of the suspects were caught whilst the 3rd one escaped.
