As the pre-trial detention of former Zengeza West Member of Parliament Job Sikhala is expected to come to an end tomorrow, the Job Sikhala Solidarity Youth Movement has urged citizens to attend the judgement in their numbers.
Sikhala’s final judgment is expected to be handed down at the Rotten Row Harare Magistrates’ Court.
Addressing members of the press in Harare today, the Job Sikhala Solidarity Youth Movement President Darlington Chigwenha said the judgement is the genesis of freedom not only for Sikhala but for other citizens who are suffering from the judicial inequalities.
He urged citizens to attend Sikhala’s final judgement as to show solidarity to him.
“Job Sikhala Solidarity Movement urges all pro democracy campaigners to attend court on 24 January 2024 beginning at 11:15 a.m in court 18 at the Harare Rotten Row Courts,” he said.
Chigwenha urged those who are to attend the proceeding to act in a peaceful manner and abide by the law.
“We also emphasize that citizens should maintain peace and unity in the face of injustice and and extreme provocation from the regime in Harare,” he addedd.
He also said the courts to exercise impartiality when dealing with the matter and he insisted the immediate release of Sikhala.
“Our position remains Job Sikhala is innocent and he must be released,” he said.
He said Sikhala is being punished for representing Moreblessing Ali, a member of the Citizens Coalition for Change who was brutaly killided by a ZANU PF activist Pius Jamba.
“Sikhala boldly demanded justice for Ali and for that he has spent one year, seven months and eight days in pretrial detention. This is persecution through prosecution,” he said.
