Civil Servants To Be Paid In ZiG

Zimbabwean News You Can Trust

Zimbabwe’s Civil servants will get their Zimdollar component salary in Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG), Finance and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube has said.

Ncube disclosed this in Parliament yesterday whilst responding to a question by Emakhandeni-Luveve legislator Discent Bajila on civil servants’ salaries in the aftermath of the introduction of Zimbabwe’s new currency, the ZiG.

“Salaries (ZWL component) will be paid electronically in ZiG, as it is already in effect. Bank notes to follow, as announced by RBZ,” he said.

Civil Servants salaries were increased earlier this year to USD320, up from USD300. Their additional local currency salary component was also slightly increased, but it reportedly failed to surpass the US$100 mark.
