The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested a Harare man from Joshua Nkomo Housing Cooperative for stabbing his wife to death countless times after finding her with another man in their matrimonial home last week Friday.
According to a report made to the police, Mindson Jairos arrived home in the evening around 9pm, but was greeted with shock when he discovered his spouse Loveness Gurure was having a good time with her boyfriend in their bedroom.
As Jairos tried to get inside the house to discover what was happening, the boyfriend of his wife sneaked out and disappeared in the dark, leaving the “muzzled” couple alone in their matrimonial bedroom. Moments later, the two sort counseling to their landlord, Sheilar Dzokurasa, and after some minutes they returned to their room and slept.
On Saturday morning, the brother of the landlord Hatidanwi Rusike heard Loveness Gurure screaming for help inside her bedroom, and he rushed to figure out what was happening, but the door was locked from inside.
Gurure then forcibly opened the door and discovered Loveness lying lifeless in the pool of blood, whilst his husband Mindson was sitting beside her, stabbing himself on the neck. A report was made to the police, and Jairos was arrested and taken to Parirenyatwa for treatment.
Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the arrest and narrated the whole story.
He said, “The now deceased and the accused person were husband and wife. On 24 May 2024, around 2100 hours, the accused person arrived home and discovered that his wife the now deceased was with a boyfriend in a matrimonial room. The now deceased’s boyfriend bolted out of the room, leaving the deceased and the accused person.
“The two then sorts for counseling from their landlord, Sheilar Dzokurasa. After the counseling, the two proceeded back to their room to sleep. On 25 May 2024, around 0900 hours, the informant, who is brother to Sheilar Dzokurasa, heard the now deceased crying for help from their room. He tried to open the door, but it was locked from inside.
“He then forced open the door and discovered the now deceased lying in a pool of blood with no signs of life, and the accused seated next to the lifeless body of the now deceased, holding a knife, stabbing himself by the neck. A report was made at ZRP Marimba, who quickly attended the scene together with CID Homicide.
“The body of the now deceased was inspected, and it was discovered that it had deep cuts on the left lower abdomen, two deep cuts above the breasts, and one on the right side of the neck. The accused was arrested and was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for treatment. The body of the deceased was conveyed to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.”
