A 17yr old Hatfield Girls High Student, whose identity cannot be revealed as she is a minor, was allegedly raped in broad daylight by a mshikashika crew whose vehicle she had boarded.
The girl was on her way to School when she boarded the pirate taxi at Cnr St Patricks and Seke rds.
She allegedly boarded the pirate taxi, which had two male occupants, the driver and another unidentified man who was seated on the passenger side.
It is alleged that the crew drove along St Patricks rd, refusing to drop her off at Hatfield Clinic where she has requested to be dropped off. The crew allegedly drove to a bushy area, where they stopped and ordered her to disembark, allegedly threatening to kill her if she disobeyed.
One of the suspects allegedly then order her to walk to a secluded area in the bush, where he forced himself on her and raped her once without protection.
After the ordeal, the suspects allegedly shoved her into the vehicle and drove off, eventually dropping her off in the Southerton industrial area and driving off at high speed.
The victim was eventually assisted by a wellwisher who gave her busfare. When she got home she narrated her ordeal to her parents, leading to a police report being made.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway.
He said, “Complainant and accused persons are strangers. On 30 May 2024, at around 0630 hours, the complainant boarded a Honda Fit registration number unknown, navy blue in color, at corner St Patrick’s and Seke Road proceeding to Hatfield Girls High. There were two male adults in the vehicle, the driver and one male passenger, who were seated on the front passenger seat. Complainant asked the driver to drop her at Hatfield Clinic, but the driver drove past and stated that he would drop her on his return after picking someone.
