Businessman Moses Mpofu and his accomplice Mike Chimombe will spend the weekend in jail waiting for the continuation of a cross examination between their lawyers and Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission (ZACC) investigations officers standing as witnesses, which if successful will give bail to the accused next week Monday.
Chimombe and Mpofu face charges related to the Presidential Goat Scheme and a USD7 million fraud charge over the same case.
Addressing journalists after the bail hearing at Harare magistrates court today, advocate Tapson Dzvetero and Ashwell Mugiya representing the two business persons, said, “We are still proceeding with our bail application. These ZACC officers were testifying, so we will proceed next week Monday.”
Regional Magistrate Court. Mrs. Murehwanazvo Gofa will preside over the matter as always, with the state represented by Anesu Chirenje.
