52yr old Dominic Ncube of Hwange will spend the next 4yrs of his life in jail after he was convicted of attempted murder.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the 30yr old victim is Ncube’s ex wife.
It’s the State’s case that on the 18th of October 2023, Ncube went to his ex-wife’s field where he confronted her about her decision to re-marry. He registered his displeasure at her decision to move on, it seems he was still in love with her.
An argument then arose between the two erstwhile lovers, and Ncube, in a fit of rage struck the complainant twice with a stick on the back. He proceeded to trip her to the ground and whilst she was down, Ncube pricked her on the chest and abdomen with needles, resulting in her suffering serious injuries.
After the attack, Ncube ran away, leaving her wailing in pain.
The complainant was rescued by her new husband, who took her to the Police Station to file a report before she was taken to the hospital.
Ncube was convicted and sentenced to 6 years imprisonment, with 2 years were suspended. He will serve an effective 4 years in jail.
