The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested an Epworth man from Overspill for allegedly raping his 11 year old daughter countless times at knife point starting from June last month.
According to a report made to the police, the girl was at home with her parents sometime in June last month, when her mother went to collect money at a nearby house, leaving the victim home with her father.
After the victim’s mother had gone, the father allegedly lured his daughter to his bedroom, where he rap*d her once without protection at knife point, before ordering her to drink morning after pills to avoid pregnancy.
The man allegedly rap*d his daughter without protection countless times when they were left alone at home, threatening to kill her if she divulged the abuse to anyone.
On July 1, this month, the victim asked her friend at school if it was acceptable for a father to have sex with her daughter, and the friend advised her that such behavior should be reported to the police as sexual abuse.
On July 24, the victim narrated to her mother the sexual abuse she had gone through, and this prompted her mother to escort her to Epworth police station, leading to her father’s arrest.
ZRP Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and narrated the story.
He said, “The accused person is the biological father of the complainant. On an unknown date during the month of June 2024, in the morning, the complainant was at home with her mother, and the accused person. The complainant’s mother decided to go out and collect her money leaving the accused person with the complainant. The accused person lured the complainant to his bedroom and closed the door.
“The accused person produced a knife and ordered the complainant to remove all her clothes and to lie on the bed naked. The accused person further threatened to kill the complainant if she did not follow his orders. The accused person went on to remove his pair of trousers and got on top of the complainant, forcibly inserted his erect penis into the complainant’s vagina and had unprotected sexual intercourse with the complainant once without her consent.
“After the act, the accused gave the complainant a pill and ordered the complainant to swallow it. After about a week, the complainant and the accused were alone at home when the accused person summoned the complainant to his bedroom. He ordered the complainant to remove all her clothes and to get on to the bed. The complainant complied. The accused person unlawfully had unprotected sexual intercourse with the complainant once without her consent.
“After the act the accused person threatened to kill the complainant if she disclosed this particular incident to anyone. On an unknown date again, the accused person summoned the complainant to his bedroom while they were alone at home. As the complainant was entering the bedroom, she asked the accused person why he was having sexual intercourse with her as if she was his wife, but the accused person quickly told her to keep quiet.
“The accused person removed his clothes and forcibly had unprotected sexual intercourse with the complainant once without her consent. After the act, the accused person threatened to kill the complainant if she disclosed the matter to anyone. On 01 July 2024 whilst at school the complainant asked her friend if it was possible for a father to have sexual intercourse with his own biological daughter, and her friend advised her that it will be pure sexual abuse, and such matters should be reported to the police.
“On 21 July 2024, the complainant told her mother about the matter. The mother escorted the victim to ZRP Epworth, where a formal report was made. Scene was attended, the accused person was arrested and is currently detained at ZRP Epworth.”
