Burglar Breaks Into Home, Steals & Rapes A Form 2 Student

A family at Churu Farm in Harare was left traumatized after a burglar allegedly broke into their home and stole gas tanks before kidnapping and raping a form 2 student.

Its alleged that an unidentified assailant broke into the home using an unknown object on the 22nd of July, 2024.

Once inside the house, he allegedly used a cellphone torch to navigate his way around. He allegedly found the form two student and her 3 siblings asleep in the dining room. He then allegedly ordered one of the siblings to cover her head whilst he kidnapped the victim.

He also allegedly took 2 gas tanks before leaving with the minor, whom he allegedly raped once without protection at a nearby bush, about 100m away from her homestead.

After the act, he escaped into the night, leaving the girl to return home, where she narrated the ordeal to her father.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway.

“Accused is a stranger to the complainant. On the 22nd of July 2024, at around 0300 hours, the complainant was asleep in the dining room together with her three siblings.  Accused person used an unknown object to open the door of the dining room and gained entry into the house. Whilst in the house, he used a cellphone torch for light and ordered another sibling to cover her head.

“Accused person lifted complainant from the blankets and put her on the floor, removed her pant, leaving her with skirt and body top whilst pointing a knife on her throat. Accused person force marched complainant out of the house and took her to an open space about 100 metres away where he raped complainant once without protection. Complainant went home and narrated the ordeal to her father. Accused person stole two gas tanks [10 kg and 3 kg] valued at US$50-00,” said Chakanza.
