Robbers Raid Harare Home, Steal US$13k

A Harare couple lost a total of USD12 000 and electronic goods after their home was broken into by 7 armed men with pistols.

According to a report made to the police, on the 24th of July 2024 at about 0200 hours, Blessing Chimhau was sound asleep with his wife Dorcas Mabara, when he was awakened by a loud bang on his bedroom door. He went to investigate and got the shock of his life when he saw seven adult males with faces fully covered in balaclavas and brandishing pistols.

The assailants allegedly ordered Chimau and his spouse to lie down on the floor, before tying their hands with taps and ransacking the house. They allegedly took US$12 000 from the headboard side drawer as well as three smartphones—a Samsung Z fold 4, a Samsung Z flip 5, and a Tecno P20.

Before leaving the house, one of the accused fired one shot into the air. Subsequently,  Chimhau was able to free himself and his spouse. When they went outside, they found all of their cellphones on a fowl run’s roof.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Provincial (ZRP) Spokesperson for Harare, Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident and said investigations are in progress to bring the suspects to book.
