American rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been arrested in Manhattan, New York.
Several US media outlets confirmed this development, following a grand jury indictment, likely related to several lawsuits filed against Combs that accuse him of sexual assault and abuse amongst other allegations..
A criminal federal investigation had also been ongoing for months.
The specific charges were not immediately clear.
Combs was also seen on a video, first obtained by CNN in May, showing him violently beating his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel back in 2016.
Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs last November, a matter he settled in one day for an undisclosed amount of money. The Bab Boy founder continued to deny any wrongdoing.
Combs however apologized via a post on social media after a video of him assaulting Cassey was leaked to Social Media. He took full responsibility, calling his actions inexcusable. However, many people argued that his apology lacked sincerity especially after he initially denied the allegations.
Combs was also accused in additional lawsuits of sexual assault and sex trafficking. A former music producer, Rodney Jones aka Lil Rod, filed a lawsuit against the mogul, accusing him of sexual harrassment among other allegations.
US Federal agents raided Diddy’s Los Angeles and Florida homes in March 2024, reportedly seizing footage that he allegedly secretly recorded when ever he hosted celebrities and other high profile people at his now infamous freakoff parties. The Feds also siezed recording equipment and other electronic devices.
Combs’ attorney said they were disappointed with the decision to pursue what they believe is an unjust prosecution.
