The Palestinian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Tamer Almassri, has condemned Israeli massacres in tents at Al Aqsa hospital and Jabalia camp in northern Gaza, where IDF bombardment resulted in extensive damage and saw some Palestinian who hd sought refuge at the camps burned alive.
Ambassador Almassri said the brutal military action had led to hundreds of casualties.
In response, Israeli defense forces said the target of the strike was a Hamas command center on the premises of al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, in the Deir al-Balah area.
However, Almassri rubbished the claims, insisting that the Israeli army’s aim was aimed at harming civilians through “killing or forced displacement”.
He added that the recent Israeli attacks on Lebanon were a testimony that the Jewish State has interests in taking over the territory of Northern Gaza from Palestinians.
“Israel is practicing the most heinous forms of crimes targeting Palestinian civilians to empty the areas of their residents, whether through direct killing or forced displacement.
“Apartheid Israel is exploiting global distractions arising from its actions in Lebanon to continue its violent campaign in Gaza with an objective to sever northern Gaza from the rest of the Palestinian Territory and fully depopulate the area as part of a wider displacement strategy,” he said.
The diplomat added that the international community’s blind eye and failure to stop Israel has led to the displacement of the Palestinian people and the establishment of buffer zones, which are enabling Israel to continue with its military action with impunity.
“The international community’s failure to take firm steps to stop this genocide encourages Israel to move forward, with plans to displace the Palestinian people, establishing buffer zones that deepen colonialism,” added Almassri.
According to Dr. Almassri, the Palestinian death toll from the Israeli genocide since October 2023 has risen to 42,227 reported fatalities, with an additional 98,464 individuals sustaining injuries. He said most of the victims werre women and children.
Despite UN and International condemnation of Israel’s grotesque use of force, the US has provided Israel with billions of dollars’ worth of security assistance and weapons over the past year since its war on Hamas, in the aftermath of the Oct. 7, 2023, attack.
