Harare Man killed For Insensitive Joke

A man from Harare was brutally attacked after making a joke that angered two attackers, who are now being held for murder.

The now-deceased was identified as 44-year-old Takaidza Mugwagwa.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“Police in Harare have arrested Munyaradzi Tichafara (22) and Wisdom Sithole (23) in connection with a case of murder in which Takaidza Mugwagwa (44) died after being attacked with an unknown object all over the body on October 12, 2024, at Longchen Plaza, Belvedere.

“The victim had allegedly made a joke which offended the suspects,” Nyathi said.

Meanwhile, ZRP is appealing for information which may assist in identifying a man aged between 25 and 30 who was found dead in an open space at  Dziwoz Business Centre, Aerodrome, Wedza in July.

The victim was wearing grey trousers tied with a nylon string on the waist, a yellow T-shirt and brown tennis shoes. The body is at Mount St Mary’s Hospital mortuary.
