Ambassador of Palestine to Zimbabwe, Tamer Almassri, has denounced the Israeli forces for an air strike attack that killed 90 and left dozens of Palestinians injured in Beit Lahia, North of the Gaza Strip, on Sunday, describing that act as an “extension of genocide crimes”.

The airstrike comes as the IDF (Israeli Defence Forces) ramps up its operations against Hamas in Northern Gaza, claiming that the militant group was regrouping in the area.

In a statement, Dr. Almassri, who earlier this year lost his mother to Israeli bombardment, said the continuous military action by the IDF in Beit Lahi, which have destroyed schools, hospitals, roads and universities, reflect the “failure of the international community to maintain its legitimacy and integrity”.

The diplomat called upon the international community to impose stiffer sanctions against Israel, urging the United Nations (UN) security Council to protect Palestinians and ensure the urgent deliver of humanitarian aid in Gaza.

He said “the massacres in Beit Lahia and Jabalia reflects the failure of the international community to respect its legitimacy and decisions as apartheid Israel continues with its genocidal crimes that include starvation and forced migration, destruction and blowing of buildings, aerial bombardment, targeting all health centers, and committing more heinous massacres”.

“This massacre should be faced with a decisive international action to stop it immediately, including by imposing an arms embargo and effective sanctions.

“The state of Palestine calls on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities and impose an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, provide international protection for the Palestinian people, and ensure an urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to all parts of the Gaza Strip. Failure to stop these massacres is a shame on the who international community”.

According to Dr. Almassri, the Palestinian death toll from the Israeli onslaught has risen to 42,697 reported fatalities, with an additional 99,759 individuals sustaining injuries. The victims are mostly women and children.
