The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has initiated a manhunt for Trust Bopera, who is accused of murdering Pharaoh Chiurunga at Musasa Shopping Centre in Epworth late last year.
According to a statement from the police, Chiurunga and Bopera were drinking at Chaggs Bar on October 31, 2024, when Chiurunga warned Bopera to stop physically abusing his wife.
The argument escalated, and the two men went outside the bar where Bopera allegedly struck Chiurunga on the head with an unknown object. Bopera then reportedly fatally stabbed Chiurunga in the chest with a screwdriver, leading to Chiurunga’s untimely death.
The ZRP has urged members of the public to report any information about Bopera’s whereabouts to the Epworth police station or Harare operations.
The police statement reads, “The ZRP is seeking information regarding the whereabouts of Trust Bopera, who is wanted in connection with the tragic murder of Pharaoh Chiurunga in Epworth on October 31, 2024.
“On the aforementioned date, at approximately 01:30 hours, the deceased and the accused were at Musasa Shopping Centre in Epworth. An argument erupted between them concerning the physical abuse the accused was allegedly inflicting on Chiurunga’s wife.
“The dispute escalated, leading to a confrontation outside the bar where the accused violently attacked the deceased. He struck him twice on the head with an unknown object and once in the chest with a screwdriver, resulting in the deceased’s death at the scene due to the inflicted injuries.
“Anyone with information that may lead to the location and arrest of Trust Bopera is urged to visit or contact ZRP Epworth.”
