In a startling and disturbing act, a man who works from Travel and Tours allegedly rap3d a woman in Avondale along Bath Road after she turned down his advances, and pleaded for time to know more about his background.

According to a report made to the police, on 24 January the man was driving a Toyota Aqua along Bath Road in Avondale when he saw a beautiful woman, and asked for her contact details which he was given.

On the same day later in the evening, the man reportedly called the 28 year old woman asking for directions to her home in Avondale. It is alleged he drove his motor vehicle and parked it outside the house of the victim, and they met in the car where they listened to music together.

The man reportedly proposed love to the victim, but she turned down his advances, claiming she needed time to know him. The man then reportedly dragged the victim to the rear seat and rap3d the victim without protections before driving off in the dark.

It is alleged the victim was disturbed about the awkward behavior of the man, and she narrated what had happened to her to her sister, and a report was made to the police.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Harare provincial spokesperson Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the abuse and said investigations are underway.

He said, “accused and complainant recently met friends. On 24 January 2025, and at around 1400 hours, complainant met the accused who was driving a Toyota along Bath Road, Avondale, Harare.  The accused stopped his vehicle and introduced himself to the complainant. Accused asked for the complainant’s cell number and the complainant gave him. The accused later phoned the complainant at around 1900 hours the same day asking for directions to her place to which he was given.

“The accused drove to the complainant’s place, parked by the gate and called the complainant. They both sat in the accused’s vehicle chatting and listening to music. The accused proposed to the complainant but she told him that she needed time to get to know him.The accused started passing comments about the complainant’s legs which he said were looking nice through the lacy skirt she was wearing. He started caressing the complainant’s legs but she stopped him.

“The accused then told the complainant that he was horny but the complainant turned him away. Accused pushed his seat backwards as if he wanted to seat comfortably and immediately jumped to the rear seats. The accused then dragged the complainant to the rear seats. The accused went on to remove complainant’s pants with one hand whilst the other hand was holding the complainant’s hands.

“Complainant tried to open the vehicle door but it was locked. Complainant screamed for help but nobody heard her. The accused then forcibly had abused her once without complainant’s consent. Accused then drove off leaving complainant behind.Complainant then narrated the ordeal to her sister who then later advised her to report the matter.”
