The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced an increase in fuel prices effective 5 February 2025. Diesel and petrol prices will rise by 5 cents per litre, impacting both local and international markets. The new prices will remain in effect until 4 March 2025.
Updated Fuel Prices
The updated prices for diesel and petrol are as follows:
- Diesel 50: ZWG 41.58 (ZWG/litre), US$1.58 (US$/litre)
- Blend E15: ZWG 40.50 (ZWG/litre), US$1.53 (US$/litre)
The 5 cent increase in both diesel and petrol prices was confirmed by ZERA on its official platforms. The changes follow months of fluctuating fuel prices, which have been a point of concern for both consumers and operators.
ZERA further clarified that operators may choose to sell below the prescribed prices if their trading conditions allow it. However, prices must be clearly displayed in accordance with the fuel pricing regulations.
A spokesperson for ZERA explained the rationale behind the changes, saying,
“The fuel price increase is part of the adjustments made to align with global market trends and the costs associated with importation.”
