40-Year-Old Mberengwa Man Jailed 20 Years For Murder

A 40-year-old man from Mberengwa has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for murdering a fellow patron at a local nightspot last year.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, Charles Sibanda, who appeared at the recently-established Midlands Special High Court Circuit, attacked two female victims with a knife after a dispute

On August 13, 2024, at around 2200 hours, a misunderstanding arose among patrons at Kalahari Night Club, Yorks Business Centre, Mberengwa.

“It escalated into a fight. Sibanda left the bar briefly and returned with an Okapi knife which he used to stab Sheron Zvandasara on the thigh and Tracy Ncube once in the chest.

“Tracy was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.”

Meanwhile, in another callous murder case in Shurugwi, Evans Fungato (32) has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for murdering Kudakwashe Midzi (23) with an axe.

According to NPAZ, the incident occurred on October 19, 2019 when Fungato confronted Midzi and his friends, Witness Maroora and Cruise Professor Chandigere, while holding the weapon.

Fungato struck Midzi on the head with the back of the axe, rendering him unconscious before attempting the same on Maroora, who disarmed him.
