Zvishavane Man Gets 10 Years For Attempted Murder

A Zvishavane man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempted murder, following a court trial that highlighted the severity of his actions.

The Zvishavane Regional Court sentenced Confidence Simango (28) of Chibharo Village, Chief Mapanzure, Zvishavane, to ten years in prison for attempted murder. The incident took place on January 1, 2025, at Nyama Business Centre in Zvishavane, where Simango was drinking beer at the time.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, a misunderstanding between the accused and other patrons escalated into a fist fight. Police officers who were on patrol intervened to stop the brawl, ensuring that the situation did not further escalate.

However, things took turn for the worse when Simango picked up a stone and struck one of the police officers on the back of the head, causing him to fall unconscious and bleed profusely.

The accused fled the scene bit he was later apprehended, and the injured policeman was rushed to Zvishavane District Hospital for treatment.
