
Former Jiti crooner turned gospel musician, Baba Harare is set the Ezekiel Guti commemoration event where he will feature on a collaboration with Sir Benjamin Rupapa tomorrow in Harare, as the late celebrated clergyman, Archbishop Guti.
The announcement was made during the preparations for the celebrations honoring the founder of ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries International, who passed away in 2023.
The Guti celebrations will kick off with a walkathon in the morning, followed by a musical concert in the afternoon. The events aim to honor Archbishop Guti’s legacy and contributions to the spiritual community.
Baba Harare, now going by the stage name King David, known for his recent genre shift from jiti to gospel music, has been making waves in the Zimbabwean music scene. His collaboration on the tribute song is expected to bring a unique blend of styles to the table.
Addressing journalists in preparation for the celebrations tomorrow Gospel artists Sir Benjamin Rupapa who won the Ezekiel Guti award said, “tommorow be ready we are going to dance definitely. I have a song featuring Baba Harare which l am supposed to release tomorrow that one we are calling it gospel it’s vision of Jiti and Gospel so we are going to dance so tomorrow is going to be a good day. ”
Meanwhile, Misheck Mahendere, who is the brother of renowned gospel musician Michael Mahendere who will also perform at the celebrations added that,”today l am here to celebrate baba, the legend, the African apostle so it’s a great honor for me to cone here.”
Archbishop Guti, who celebrated his 100th birthday before his demise in 2023, left an indelible mark on Zimbabwe’s spiritual landscape. He was praised by President Emmerson Mnangagwa as one of the “generals and patriarchs of faith”.
The tomorrow’s celebrations are for the third time since the they started after Guti’s untimely departure and it will be conducted countrywide.
