The State of Palestine’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Tamer Almassri, has vehemently condemned the Israeli occupation’s continued atrocities in Gaza, describing the situation as a genocide that has claimed the lives of thousands of innocent Palestinians.
The ambassador’s response comes in response to the Israeli leaders disturbing admissions, who brazenly stated that Palestinian children are being killed “as a hobby” by the Israeli occupation army.
Since October 2023, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of over 53,000 Palestinians, with the vast majority being innocent women and children who have been caught in the crossfire of Israel’s relentless aggression.
According to Almassri the besieged Strip is facing an unprecedented crisis, with more than 14,000 babies at imminent risk of death if life-saving supplies are not immediately allowed into the area.
The diplomat added that the “situation is further exacerbated by Israel’s policy of denying crucial aid to the Palestinian people,” a move that has been widely condemned by the international community.
” The State of Palestine reiterates its call for immediate and robust action from the international community to bring an end to Israel’s aggression in Gaza.
The world must not remain silent in the face of such clear violations of international law and human decency. The Palestinian people have been subjected to decades of occupation, displacement, and violence, and it is the responsibility of the international community to ensure that their rights are protected and that those responsible for these atrocities are held accountable, ” said Almassri in a statement.
The ambassador’s condemnation is not limited to the Israeli government alone; it also extends to the international community for its failure to take decisive action to stop the ongoing” genocide” in Gaza.
Despite widespread condemnation of Israel’s actions, the lack of concrete measures to hold Israel accountable has emboldened the occupation state to continue its “aggression with impunity” .
Ambassador Almassri’s call for accountability is therefore not just a demand for justice for the Palestinian people but a plea for the international community to uphold its obligations under international law.
