Dutchman De Jongh Bounces Back At Bosso

Football giants HIGHLANDERS FC reignited their relationship with nomad coach Pieter de Jongh as they seek to restore BOSSO to its former glory.

De Jongh arrived in the company of manager Netsai Moyo at Tuesday afternoon’s training session.

In clear departure from normal procedure, arrived on Tuesday whilst the team was on its afternoon training session and immediately went on to introduce himself to the players and technical team.

“He introduced himself to the coaches and us saying the club was working on his work permit. All the time the manager who probably should have been the one to introduce us to de Jongh stood by and watched in disbelief,” said a player who declined to be named.

Dutchman De Jongh replaces Zambian Gaffa, Kelvin Kaindu, who was relieved of his duties last month.

Kaindu was recently appointed as the new Dynamos coach, stepping into Soul Chaminuka’s shoes.

De Jongh is reported have told the club that he will bring four players, including one believed to be a Namibian, reportedly recommended to him by one of his former assistants.

Highlanders have been short of talent from their usually reliable juniors pool, and the club’s inactivity on the transfer market has left fans and members very unhappy.

There is mounting pressure on Kenneth Mhlophe to save Highlanders.

The Bosso boat is currently sailing in unstable waters amid allegations of financial irregularities, which culminated in a raid on the club by anti corruption agency, ZACC, earlier this month.

However, Highlanders spokesperson Nozibelo Maphosa, has remained tight lipped been mum on whether de Jongh would be joining Amahlolanyama.

The Dutch coach, who led Bosso to the 2019 Chibuku Super Cup victory, has had almost half a dozen jobs after leaving the Bulawayo giants in 2019.

Bosso has in recent years been haemorraged by a loss of key players such as the late Brian Banda, Adrian Silla, Marvelous Chigumira, Peter Mudihwa, Godfrey Makaruse, Mbongeni Ndlovu, Divine Mhindirira and Lynoth Chikuhwa.

Only this week Mafios Chihweta, who came in at the beginning of this year, has been snatched by ambitious Scottland FC. He was signed for US$50 000.

Highlanders currently lie ninth on the log and desperate to salvage their season.
